House of Orange

At last! A hockey game to go to! I can’t believe it is halfway through November and I am just now seeing my first game of the season.

Leading up to it, I was itching with anticipation. Not only was I excited to finally watch Andrew, I was also really excited to see what hockey was like in Japan. Was it going to be the same?

Well … it was everything I was expecting it to be and more. Although I couldn’t understand what the announcers were saying, they created the same environment and atmosphere I was used to in North America. Right down to the pre-game show. With fire and lights, they announced each player on the team before they skated to the center where kids from local teams were waiting to cheer them on.

From the drop of the puck, it was clear, the fans were crazy. Banging noise-makers and waving flags, they were ready to watch some hockey.

I will admit, I was not expecting the game to be as intense as it was. I’m not at all saying I thought it was going to be terrible but … I was surprised by their speed and skills. And the fights, yes there was fighting! For a moment I thought I was back in Chicago. The game was very entertaining and to top it off Andrew got a goal!

After the final sound of the horn, the IceBucks won 6-0! But there was still one more surprise at the end of the game.

All the players turned to the fans and thanked them. I can’t wait to come back to the House of Orange to see another!
